A few months ago, Larry and Sherryl Ford came to Gaither Studios to record an interview hosted by Bill Gaither that talked about their life, their family, their faith, and the long history of great songs and performances Larry has contributed to the Gaither Homecoming series over the years. His music has blessed Homecoming audiences for more than a decade, but Bill must have known something that the rest of us didn’t necessarily realize.

To see Larry sing, with the big voice and majestic delivery, it is easy to assume that music is his life. But the more he shared, the more accessible he became. As the cameras rolled, it became apparent who Larry Ford really is. His solid marriage to Sherryl, their six children, their grandchildren, their unique warmth together and the way they bring out the best in each other… all those things came flooding to the forefront as they opened up about their life. By the end of their conversation together, Larry was in tears. Who knew the guy with the big voice has a heart that’s even bigger?! It became abundantly clear in those moments that his music is simply an outpouring of what his life is really about… love, gratitude, humor and a genuine faith in the God he has been singing about for most of his life.

The DVD and television program turned out wonderfully and this I can guarantee… if you love the music of Larry Ford, you will love the man behind the voice more than ever. To see the very personal side of his life is truly the very, very best of Larry Ford.
