Myrtle Beach Gaither Fest
By Emily Sutherland
Within five minutes of the moment the Sutherland van pulled up to the
Myrtle Beach Convention Center, we ran into some of our Gaither
Community friends in the lobby. I'm always so excited for the chance to
actually see the whites of your eyes when we're out there, so thanks to
those of you who introduced yourselves to me throughout the weekend! It
was great to see you!
As always, the weekend was busy and went by like a blur. But wow, was it ever a wonderful weekend. Maybe it was just me but this year's event seemed especially meaningful. I posted photos of the weekend before we left Myrtle Beach on Sunday morning, but one thing you will not see is photos of the Saturday morning worship service. There are a couple reasons for this, the first of which is... I simply did not want to break the incredible spirit in that room. From the very first moment of that morning service there was a very special realization that we were on holy ground. Gloria spoke and her words were inspired. I spoke to so many people who were deeply moved by her message about our true identity... I wish you could've been there if you weren't! I couldn't bring myself to stand in front of anyone to snap a photo and risk distracting anyone from what was happening.
The other reason I didn't take photos of the morning worship service? Because photos could never, ever convey the sweetness of that morning. You just HAVE to come to GaitherFest and attend the morning worship service to know what I'm talking about. But it just doesn't feel right to try capturing that particular part of the weekend in one-dimension.
I hope you enjoy these shots of the rest of the weekend though. It was incredible and I promise you, the Vocal Band gets better every single time I hear them live.
