Joy In My Heart & Nashville Homecoming - Now Available for Presale

It is so appropriate that Nashville was the host city for this taping, since this city is home to so many artists and songwriters - both legendary and fledgling.  It's an unusual city in the way it lends itself to creative expression; and with a nickname like "Music City USA" it was the natural gathering place for multiple generations of artists to sing of sing about the Creator of Song... and about the truths that only grow more significant and relevant over time.

These two August 25th releases feature the first large-scale gathering of the entire 250+ voice Homecoming choir in more than 6 years.  It was filmed on a closed set at the historic Grand Ole Opry with a huge cast of beloved artists, combining the intimate feel of the early Homecoming "studio recordings" with the beautiful, state-of-the-art set design that make live events so stunning (including antique chandeliers that were actually used back in the days of old silent movies).

From the location, to the setting, to the artists and song choices... every detail of these two DVDs speaks to the rich tradition of music and voices that have fortified our lives for decades.  Among the most outstanding highlights are the "flashback" moments, where footage from early Homecoming tapings has been interwoven with the Opry House performances.  There's nothing quite like hearing this wonderful group of voices sing an old Goodmans favorite and then suddenly hearing the voice of Howard Goodman, who takes a verse via video.  These moments add more than nostalgia... they lend the credibility of artists who went out singing and believed in the good news of the Gospel until their dying days.

A genuinely epic event, this taping was Dottie Rambo's last Homecoming appearance before she lost her life in a tragic bus accident.  It was also the last Homecoming taping for Eva Mae LeFevre.  Their performances bring an entirely new level of awareness that life is fragile and fleeting, and what's beyond this life is a perfect, uninterrupted continuation of life, joy, and peace that passes human understanding.

Without divulging all of the special surprises tucked inside these otherwise normal looking Homecoming releases, suffice it to say... they are keepers.  We don't know when this choir of Homecoming voices will gather next, but we do know it will be missing at least two precious pioneers.  So it is important to treasure every song; to hang on every word they say.  It is important to witness just how rare and wonderful an experience it is to see a room filled with people - hundreds of lifetimes devoted to singing about Jesus - culminate into one simple reality: it's all true.  The power of the Gospel is real.  It proves out over time and circumstances, even surviving our doubts and questions. That kind of Truth - Truth on which you can stake everything - is worth celebrating and, yes, brings joy to the heart.
