City of Gadsden Honors Native Son, Gordon Mote

Gadsden, AL - The city of Gadsden, AL, honored native son, Gordon Mote, by proclaiming Saturday, May 2, 2009, as Gordon Mote Day. The multi-talented RSI Music recording artist was honored by the city and Mayor Sherman Guyton during a special ceremony in Gadsden on Saturday. Mote presented a special concert at Gadsden’s historic public library as a special thanks to the city for the community’s support over the years.
Mote was born in the city of Gadsden and was one of the first blind students in the county to mainstream into the public educational system in Gadsden. He went on to graduate with honors from Emma Sanson High School and served as band captain of his high schools award winning marching band and received many awards and honors of distinction in local, regional and state vocal competitions. Today, Mote is recognized as one of the country’s finest musicians and vocalists.
After six consecutive nominations, recently, the Academy of Country Music named Mote as the Top Piano/Keyboard Player of the Year under the MBI (Musicians, Band, Instrumental) Awards category. Mote has long been noted as one of Nashville’s most talented studio musicians. His talents can be heard on the recordings of some of the nation’s premier performers, including Brad Paisley, Trisha Yearwood, Alan Jackson, Rascal Flatts and Alison Krauss, just to name a few.
In 2004, the talented singer and musician released his debut solo recording and has enjoyed numerous Top 40 hits in multiple music genres and a variety of Fan Award nominations. Mote’s video release, The Best of Gordon Mote (Gaither Music Group), made its debut at Number 7 on the Billboard Music Video Chart in 2008. Motes’ travels in 2009 will include stops in the US, Canada and Europe as he shares the stage on more than 60 dates Bill Gaither and the Grammy Award winning Gaither Vocal Band,
Mote, who currently resides in Nashville, returned to the recording studio in January to begin work on a brand new recording for RSI Music Group. RSI anticipates an early summer release for the new recording.
